Test the software first before relying on it. In October, Lexar will begin selling Image Rescue, a 40 software program designed to recover images accidentally deleted or otherwise lost from Lexar CompactFlash storage cards. I shot 5 images, then formatted the card and shot 5 more (different subjects) and then tried to restore the card - no go. I took that card out and put my spare in. Granted, I recognized what I did as soon as I confirmed the formating of the wrong card. My first test was when I forgot which card I was using in my 1DMkII (CF or SD) and deleted the wrong card, losing over 100 images of the soccer game I was shooting. I have done testing on this and have been suprized in both good and bad ways. Even after formatting, the images can be recovered, but if you have taken photos after formatting, the new photos will override the old, preventing the overwritten image to be lost. Still not happy with the memory card but I do LOVE the Image Recovery software from Lexar - makes it a worthwhile purchase. I was able to save the photos to external storage and reformat the memory card.

If you find that you need to restore the card, take it out of the camera immediatly and do not shoot anything else on that card. UPDATE: I was able to download the Lexar Image Recovery 5 software and it found/recovered more than 1,000 photos from my memory card.

If not can someone point me to an archival ftp wheI re I can download 1.0? If it comes down to it can plunk down the $30 for the 2.0 version but I'd rather not pay for software I thought came included and I don't even know if it will work.
Needless to say I feel extremely stupid, but I need to recover those images if I can, fortunately none of them were business related. Now of course I did something stupid, I deleted about 40 raw files off my laptop thinking I had transfered them to my desktop, and deleted my cf card. I have a Lexar 40x CF card, and I was under the impression that it came with their image rescue software.
